Salicylic acid CAS 69-72-7 C7H6O3 USP,BP,EP grade is white crystalline powder, odorless. Soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, benzene, acetone, turpentine, not soluble in water.Salicylic acid is widely used. It can be used for eczema, psoriasis, acne, and dandruff. Salicylic acid with a concentration of 3% to 6% can be used for exfoliation. Concentrations above 6% are destructive to tissues. Concentrations below 40% are suitable for treating corns, calluses, and viral warts. Salicylic acid can also be added to drugs for treating acne and dandruff. Many well-known cosmetics also contain salicylic acid.
