It is used as a brightener in automotive and architectural coatings, latex paints, cleaning and dispersing agents in lubricating oils, water treatment aids, retention and drainage aids for papermaking, acrylic floor paints, and can also be used as hair styling gel and demulsifiers in water-based emulsions after copolymerization with vinyl pyrrolidine.
