L-Cysteine hydrochloride monohydrate CAS 7048-04-6 is colorless to white columnar crystals or white crystalline powder, with a slight special odor. Melting point 175℃. Soluble in water, alcohol, ammonia and acetic acid, insoluble in benzene, ether, acetone, ethyl acetate and carbon tetrachloride. The Ph value of 1% aqueous solution is 1.7. It has reducing properties, antioxidant and anti-nonenzymatic browning effects.
